Pain Relief Therapy

We offer two options for pain relief sessions in our clinic; therapeutic full body massage and pain relief sessions.

Therapeutic full body massage sessions are hands on massage techniques for full scheduled time. This is a full body massage so only a limited time can be spent working with a particular area of pain. Over 400 muscle groups are conditioned, focusing on how your body stores tension or has been injured, and correcting those imbalances. Each session is uniquely tailored to what your body needs at that time decreasing pain, optimizing performance, speeding recovery from injury or preventing it in the first place. This is the better option when dealing with whole body aches, fibromyalgia symptoms, minor pain symptoms. Click here for more information on these therapies.

Pain relief therapy sessions include at least two-thirds of the scheduled time with hands on work and will include other forms of therapy. This is the better option for moderate to severe chronic pain symptoms, injuries and any recurring issues. Therapies that may be utilized are far infrared therapy, bio-magnetic therapy, cleansing therapies, thermotherapy or cryotherapy.

Every session will include various techniques during the session. Each body is different and used differently, with varying degrees of pain symptoms. We listen to what is going on within your body to help you get the most pain relief possible.

We offer FREE consultations to make a care plan that is right for you.

Thermotherapy (heat therapy)

Heat therapy is mostly for non-inflammatory pain conditions. It is relaxing, comforting and reassuring. This can have a profound effect on the musculature system of the body. It opens blood vessels, increasing circulation to the area, encouraging the body's natural healing process. Below are the different forms of heat therapy we provide.

Far Infrared therapy uses invisible waves of energy that have the ability to penetrate all layers of the human physical body, penetrating into the inner-most regions of the tissues, muscles and bone. Our hands, bodies and the sun naturally emit these waves all the time. Because these waves have the ability to penetrate our bodies, it is a relaxing way to ease joint and muscle pain. We commonly use this therapy to "warm" up the tissues before a bodywork session. You can enjoy this part of your session lying comfortably on a table allowing all the muscles to relax.

Prossage is an ointment made of all natural ingredients that is warming for the body when used during massage. It helps loosen and relax the muscles allowing the practitioner to work on deeper tissues.

Paraffin therapy is one of the most effective methods of applying deep heat to specific areas of the body to relieve pain and stiffness, warming up the muscles and tendons in preparation for body work. It reduces pain caused by chronic pain conditions, arthritis, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis and more.

Castor oil packs are heated castor oil applied with flannel cloth to parts of the body suspected to have inflamed bursa, or bursitis. This natural healing therapy has produced positive results in shoulders and backs in clients who have been diagnosed with bursitis who opted to try this before the steroid injection.

Eco-fin therapy uses an eco-friendly alternative to traditional paraffin. 100% natural, plant-based emollients and pure essential oils warm the body  to increase circulation, soothe tired aching muscles, and relieve tension.  This therapy can be applied to parts or the whole body, unlike the paraffin therapy we offer. Applied in a body wrap style, the whole body experience relaxes the deep muscles with gentle heat, soothing a distressed system of muscles and nerves.

Heated stones therapy uses heated stones to warm the hands of the practitioner relaxing the muscles to get to the deeper muscles that need attention.  Once the stones have cooled to a temperature that is comfortable for the therapist to handle, the stones may be used directly on the skin of the client for deeper warmth and relaxation of muscles. We do not use the stones as a tool for deep muscle work as we feel that we work safer and more efficiently when we can feel what's happening in the muscles with our hands.

Cryotherapy (cold therapy)

Biofreeze is a natural topical analgesic. It uses the natural menthol to cool the tissues reducing inflammation, soothing joint and muscle pain. It is often applied after deep tissue bodywork.

Cold stone therapy uses stones that have been chilled to reduce inflammation, increase circulation and relax muscles. Currently we only use these on the face, which opens sinuses, relieves sinus pressure, and soothes headaches.

Cold packs are gel filled packs that have been chilled and are applied to specific areas of the body to reduce inflammation increase circulation and relax muscles. Because they are gel filled they conform easily to any part of the body.

Cleansing Therapy

Every day our bodies are exposed to chemicals and toxins. They are in the air we breathe, the carpets we lie on, couch we sit on, what we clean our cars and our homes with, not to mention the food we eat. They are small amounts that add up until these significant amounts are stored in our livers, skin, kidneys and more.
Our bodies also produce waste products on a cellular level. The blood carries oxygen and nutrients to our cells. The waste product from the cells processes is then taken away to be filtered by the lymphatic system.
Detox therapies aid our bodies in their natural elimination processes.

Ionic Foot Bath Detox is a process of electrolysis that produces negative ions in a water bath that the body absorbs through osmosis. It stimulates the body's natural cleansing process. By cleansing the body it increases the metabolism, circulation and lymphatic systems. This allows the body to focus on healing. It generally leaves clients feeling better with greater energy and less pain in the joints and muscles of the body. For best results it is recommended that treatment be twice weekly for 4 weeks.

Dry Brushing is dry brush, made of natural bristles, used before your massage to stimulate the immune system, the lylmphatic system, increase circulation, exfoliate and stimulate the nerve endings of the skin and muscles, enhancing the relaxation effect of the muscles in the body. The lymphatic system is the body's natural cleanisng system. The lymph system does not have a pump like the circulatory system has the heart. Therefore, the body's movements are the pumping system. Dry brushing encourages the flow of lymph to the glands for cleansing. For sanitary reasons, you are given the brush used for your session to take and use at home.

Ear candling cones used in this therapy are made from linen material and natural beeswax. In many cultures, ear candling, as it is sometimes referred, is considered a remedy for wax build up, ear infections, candida overgrowth, etc. The cones are placed at the entrance of the ear canal and lit on the other end. The process is a very gentle drawing of the impurities from the ear. The smoke and heat enter the ear, warming the ear canal, allowing impurities to be vacuumed into the cones. It can remove ear wax, debris, yeast, bacteria and inner ear congestion. The vibration in the burning of the cone emits a healing energy. That energy coupled with a scalp and facial massage during the session releases tension from the head, face and the body. The experience we have had with our clients, and own family, is that ear candling can clear congestion, improve hearing, reduce itching, reduce effects of swimmer's ear, clear your head, promote relaxation, and more.

Bio-magnetic therapy uses bio-magnetic north pole energy to help proper circulation by reacting with the iron in the blood, encourages oxygenation of the cells by getting the blood to ther area, relieves pain by counteracting the positive magnetic field that occurs with injury. All these things encourage the healing of injury and chronic pain by bringing to the area what the body needs for healing. Research studies and articles are here AJOG Post ankle surgery Fibromyalgia sacroiliac pain This therapy is not to be used on clients with any sort of medical device such as insulin pump, pacemaker, defibrillator, etc.

Electromuscular stimulation (EMS) uses a small electrical current to stimulate the contraction of muscles. This repeated stimulation can get the trigger point in the muscle to release. If the trigger point doesn't release, the stimulation does make it easier for the release using manual (hands on) therapies. The current used is minimal and should not cause pain during the stimulation. It is designed to cause a relaxing of the muscle and pain will encourage the traumatic state of contraction in a muscle. This therapy is not to be used on clients with any sort of medical device such as insulin pump, pacemaker, defibrillator, etc.
